WVT 33AIR - 7 Days Samburu / Mt. Kenya / Masai Mara

Day 01 Nairobi-Samburu
Transfer to Wilson airport for your scheduled flight to the countries north. You will pass over lush farmlands and catch glimpses of the glaciered slopes o Mt. Kenya before dropping down to the arid country of the North and the Samburu Game Reserve.

On arrival you will be met and transferred to Larsen's Camp for a night stay on a fully inclusive basis. All meals and 2 game drives are included. Larsen's is a small and a very atmospheric tented Camp.

Day 02 Samburu
The guest enjoys a morning and late afternoon game viewing with a break for lunch at the camp and an afternoon spent at leisure.

Samburu is located north of the central mountains and the equator. This fascinating arid reserve is home to Grevy?s zebra and reticulated giraffe, as well as Oryx, gerenuk, Somali ostrich and dik dik.

You will have an excellent chance of seeing lion, leopard, cheetah, and elephant. Spectacular rocky outcrops, wonderful Domas palms and the shaded Ewaso Nyiro River, the life source for the Samburu reserve, make this reserve scenic.

Day 03 Samburu-Mt. Kenya Safari Club
Transfer to Samburu airport for the scenic flight. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Mount Kenya Safari Club for your overnight stay. All meals are included.

The club offers sweeping views across the plains to the majestic slopes of the magnificent snow and glacier-capped Mt. Kenya - Africa's second highest peak after Kilimanjaro.

Originally the retreat of movie star and club founder William Holden, the club provides a unique blend of comfort, relaxation and adventure. Set in over 100 landscaped gardens the mood is one of quiet elegance. The lavishly appointed dining rooms provide wonderful meals. A fine Golf course and a heated swimming pool are on site whilst other activities include: fishing, half-day trips to Mt. Kenya, nature walks, Chuka drummer displays, animal orphanage visits, and breakfast by the river.

There are many things to do around Mt. Kenya, including hiking in the foothills where waterfalls and wonderful views abound. Horse riding and white water rafting can be arranged.

Day 04 Governor's Camp Masai Mara
This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your scheduled flight from Nanyuki to the Masai Mara. On arrival at the Mara's Kichwa Tembo airstrip you will be met and transferred to Kichwa Tembo camp. Evening game drive after which you retire for the day at the Kichwa Tembo for dinner followed by Masai dances. All meals and activities are included.

Day 05 Masai Mara
Morning game drive to catch the early risers like the big five leopard, lion, elephant, rhino, buffaloes. Other plains game can also be seen.

Return to the camp for a buffet lunch and the afternoon will be spent at leisure.

Evening game viewing then return to the camp late evening for dinner and overnight.

The Masai Mara is a unique area adjoining the great Serengeti plains, which form part of the Serengeti plains national park - a 9,200 square mile Wilderness of semi-arid grasslands and woodland in Tanzania's north western quarter, home to some of the greatest numbers of wildlife on earth. The Serengeti's pulse beats to the migration cycle as vast herds of wildebeest and zebra surge up the plains in search of their hooves and the snarl of the predators that follow them - truly one of the last great natural wonders of the world.

Kichwa Tembo translates to ?Elephants head? and is a luxury-tented camp at the edge of Mara situated at the foot of the oloololo escarpment. Stylish tents set on permanent bases, each with shaded veranda, are set around the fenced grounds. Each tent is comfortably furnished, with unsuited bathroom. Fine cuisine is serve4d in the camps restaurant, which is complimented by a well stocked bar. The relaxing pool affords magnificent views of the surrounding plains, sprinkled with dark patches of woodland.

Day 06 Return
Kichwa Tembo will transfer you to Kichwa Tembo airstrip , for the flight to Nairobi.

Day 1 Nairobi-Ark
Leave in the morning to reach the small town of Nyeri for a sumptuous lunch before leaving for the Ark in the early afternoon. The night is spent in your comfortable perch above the floodlit waterhole and saltlick where, nightlong, a procession of animals comes to drink.

Day 2 Ark-Mt. Kenya Safari Club
After breakfast a short drive brings you to the Mount Kenya Safari Club whose membership includes a host of movie stars, politicians and aristocrats. Here you can have a day of total relaxation in the splendid landscaped surroundings. Activities available include golf, tennis, horseback riding, and of course swimming in the heated pool. Overnight and all meals at the club.

Day 3 Mt. Kenya Safari Club-Sweetwaters
Depart in the morning for the Sweetwaters. It is one of the only four Private Game reserves in Kenya and provides visitors with a unique combination of facilities and activities. Here the guests can enjoy special activities not permitted in the Kenyan National parks and Reserves such as escorted game walks, night game drives, horse-back rides and meals in the bush. Dinner and Overnight at the Sweetwaters tented camp.

Day 4 Sweetwaters-Masai Mara
After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip to catch a flight to the Masai Mara. Overnight at Mara Safari Club.

Day 5 Masai Mara
Experienced "Driver-naturalist", in a four-wheel drive land-cruiser, guides game drives at the Mara Safari Club. The luxurious Mara Safari Club is set in the OL-Choro Oiroua Conservation Area, bordering the Masai Mara Game Reserve, at the foot of the Aitong Hills. Surrounded on three sides by the Mara River. Dinner and Overnight at the Mara Safari Club.

Day 6 Masai Mara
The guests enjoy a full day game drive. Dinner and Overnight at the Mara Safari Club.

Day 7 Masai Mara-Nairobi
After breakfast you take a transfer to the airstrip to catch a flight back to Nairobi.


WVT 36AIR - 8 Days Kenya by Air

Day 1 Arrive Nairobi
Upon arrival early this morning, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. This afternoon, drive to Karen Von Blixen?s former home, now a museum. Continue to the Giraffe Centre where you can feed and photograph giraffe from an elevated platform. Return to the hotel early this evening. Accommodation: Jacaranda Hotel

Day 2 Nairobi-Aberdare?s ( BLD)
Depart Nairobi after breakfast and drive north to Nyeri and the Outspan Hotel. After lunch, continue to your tree hotel for a nocturnal game viewing experience. Accommodation: Treetops

Day 3 Aberdare?s-Lake Nakuru (BLD)
Return to the Outspan for breakfast and then drive around the northern part of the Aberdare?s Range to descend into the Great Rift Valley, arriving in time for lunch. The lake is famous for its million plus flamingos which migrate along the Rift Valley Lakes. Enjoy an afternoon game drive. Accommodation: Lake Nakuru Lodge

Day 4 Lake Nakuru-Lake Naivasha (BLD)
Following breakfast drive south along this scenic valley to Lake Naivasha. After lunch, take a boat ride on the lake, viewing hippo and a wealth of bird life. Accommodation: Lake Naivasha Country Club

Day 5 Lake Naivasha-Masai Mara (BLD)
Leave early today, climbing out of the Rift Valley, to enter the Masai Mara Reserve, part of the Serengeti ecosystem. After lunch, be ready to experience some of the best game viewing in Kenya?s most exciting game reserve. Accommodation: Keekorok Lodge

Day 7 Masai Mara (BLD)
Morning and afternoon game drives should reveal lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, topi, hartebeest, cheetah, gazelle, wart hog, and abundant bird life. Accommodation: Keekorok Lodge

Day 8 Masai Mara-Nairobi-Depart (B)
Return to Nairobi after breakfast, arriving at your hotel early this afternoon. Rooms have been reserved until your late evening departure. Accommodation: Jacaranda Hotel (day room)
