WVT 205 - LAKE'S NAKURU, BOGORIA AND BARINGO

Day 1 Nairobi/Masai Mara
Having been picked up from your hotel, depart Nairobi at 9.30 A.M. Drive to the Masai Mara arriving in time for a late afternoon/early evening game drive, stopping at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint and at Narok town for lunch and re-fuelling. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite.

Day 2 Masai Mara
Breakfast will be followed by a full day of game drives within the reserve. You will have a break at the hippo pool for your picnic lunch. At the Mara you should expect to see three out of the big five namely elephant, lion and buffalo though luck is essential to track the other two that is rhino and leopard which are very shy and elusive. A wide variety of antelopes and other plains game can be seen. Scavengers like hyena and vulture are common. Return to the lodge or campsite for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3 Masai Mara
After breakfast depart on a morning game drive in this reserve, which is essentially the northern extension of Tanzania's Serengeti National Park. Lunch at the lodge or campsite. In the afternoon you have a choice of three activities:- a game drive or a nature walk with our Masai guides; the final choice is a visit to a Masai village to see their nomadic lifestyle at an extra cost payable directly to the Masai villagers. All activities end at the lodge or campsite by 6.30 p.m. where you will retire for the night after dinner.

Day 4 Masai Mara/Nakuru
Early morning pre-breakfast game drive. After breakfast depart the Mara region for Nakuru for dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite, stopping for lunch enroute to Nakuru.

Day 5 Lake Baringo/Bogoria
Early breakfast then proceed to Lake Baringo for an hour's boat ride which enables you to see hippos at close range and the bird life that inhabits this lake as over 350 species of birds have been recorded here including some that conform to a migratory pattern, as well as crocodiles and Egyptian geese which migrate all the way from western Europe. Lunch in Baringo then drive back to Nakuru for dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite via Lake Bogoria to view flamingos and the hot springs.

Day 6 Lake Nakuru/Nairobi
After breakfast depart your base lodge or campsite for a game drive in the nearby Lake Nakuru National Park where there are flamingos, white pelicans, marabou stork and a variety of other water birds that breed in the lake's alkaline waters. Plains game, Rothschild's giraffe, Cape buffalo and lion can also be seen. Lunch in Nakuru then depart for Nairobi, arriving in the evening.


WVT 206 - 7 days Masai Mara/Lake Nakuru/Samburu

Day 1 Nairobi/Masai Mara
Pick from your Nairobi hotel in the morning before departure for Masai Mara Game Reserve via the viewpoint of the Great Rift Valley, lunch enroute. Arrive in time for an evening game drive in this pristine, unequalled 'big game country'. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite.

Day 2 Masai Mara
This will be a day of tracking game with your guide, after an early breakfast. The Mara's landscape is scenic savannah grassland on rolling hills, which enables the reserve to attract sufficient rainfall to maintain and support a large population of herbivores, together with the predators that follow. Elephant, lion, buffalo can be seen with relative ease though luck is a necessary factor for spotting rhino and leopard that complete the big five as the two animals are very timid and sparsely numbered. Plains game like wildebeest, zebra and Masai giraffe abound as well as hippos and a wide variety of antelopes including impala, dik dik, hartebeest, Grant?s gazelle and Thompson's gazelle among others. We will cater for a picnic lunch at the hippo pool. In the evening, return to the lodge or campsite for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3 Masai Mara
After breakfast, another morning of tracking game with your guide in this reserve which borders Tanzania's Serengeti National Park and is the annual seasonal scene of the migration of close to 800,000 zebra and wildebeest that occurs between the two parks. Lunch at the lodge or campsite. In the afternoon there is a choice between a game drive and a nature walk escorted by our armed Masai guides. At extra cost you may visit a local Masai village to see their nomadic lifestyle; the Masai are famous for their bravery, as they have co-existed with the animals over the years. All meals and overnight at the lodge or campsite.

Day 4 Masai Mara/Nakuru
After breakfast, leave Masai Mara for Nakuru with a stop for lunch enroute, with scenic views of Lake Naivasha and Mt. Longonot, which are in the Great Rift from afar on the main highway. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite

Day 5 Lake Nakuru/Samburu
After breakfast a morning game drive will follow in Lake Nakuru National Park, the abode of various water birds that breed in the lake's salty water including flamingos, white pelicans and marabou stork; white rhino may be seen as well as the rare Rothschild?s giraffe, cape buffalo and other plains game in this park that is 188 square kilometres. Depart for Samburu Game Reserve for dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite via the Thompson Falls, which are named after Joseph Thompson, one of the first European explorers who walked from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the 1880's. Lunch and game drive enroute.

Day 6 Samburu
Morning and afternoon game-viewing sessions tracking the rare, drought resistant animals species which can only be seen north of the equator; these are: the reticulated giraffe, grevy's zebra, the gerenuk or giraffe-gazelle, Beisa Oryx and the blue shanked Somali ostrich. The Ewaso Nyiro River traverses this park, it's source being the Aberdare ranges. There are therefore very high chances of spotting crocodile in a natural environment though its water level varies seasonally. You will have a lunch and leisure break in the mid afternoon. Rest of meals and overnight at the lodge or campsite.

Day 7 Samburu/Nairobi
After breakfast, depart Samburu for Nairobi, lunch enroute, with scenic views of Mt. Kenya's peak if the weather permits. Very pleasant countryside with tea and coffee plantations will be by-passed enroute to Nairobi. Arrive in the evening.


WVT 207 - 7 DAYS MASAI MARA/NAKURU/AMBOSELI

Day 1 Nairobi/Masai Mara
Morning pick from your Nairobi hotel then depart for the Masai Mara Game Reserve. You will have a spot at the viewpoint of the Great Rift Valley and at Narok town for lunch then proceed for a game drive on arrival, tracking various animal species and birds with your driver/guide. Dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge or campsite.

Day 2 Masai Mara
Early breakfast followed by a full day of game drives within the reserve. Masai Mara is renowned for it's high animal concentration and abundance. Black-maned lions, elephants and buffalo can be seen (3 out of the big 5) though luck is essential for spotting leopard and rhino, which make the other two. The reserve is essentially the northern extension of Tanzania's Serengeti National Park and is home to numerous plains game including wildebeest, common zebra and the Masai giraffe as well as antelopes like Thompson?s gazelle, dik dik, hartebeest, impala and topi among others. You will have a break for your picnic lunch at the hippo pool where hippos are in view and with luck, crocodiles. Return to the lodge or campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 Masai Mara
Early breakfast followed by a game drive. The landscape here is scenic savannah grassland on rolling hills; this reserve is the best park for game in Kenya as it has an extensive road and track network, which enables close range viewing and photography. Lunch at the lodge or campsite. In the afternoon you will have a choice of three activities; a game drive or an escorted nature walk with our armed Masai guides. At an extra cost you can visit a local Masai village to see their nomadic lifestyle. All activities end at the lodge or the campsite where you will retire for the night after dinner.

Day 4 Masai Mara/Nakuru
After breakfast depart Masai Mara for Nakuru for dinner and overnight at a lodge or campsite with lunch enroute.

Day 5 Lake Nakuru/Amboseli
After breakfast you will have a morning game viewing session in Lake Nakuru National Park to view flamingos in the park which is also famous for other water birds, various antelopes and plains game, cape buffalo, the Rothschild?s giraffe, baboons and with luck the rare black rhino which is an endangered species. Drive to Nairobi for lunch then on to Amboseli National Park for dinner and overnight at a lodge or campsite with game drive enroute.

Day 6 Amboseli
A day of game drives in this park, which contains swamp grounds in which elephants and hippos in abundance. A visit to the observation hill will follow where you will look out for Mt. Kilimanjaro?s peak if weather conditions permit. A variety of plains game, antelopes and birds can also be seen. You will have a lunch and leisure break at the lodge in the mid afternoon. Rest of meals and overnight at a lodge or campsite.

Day 7 Amboseli/Nairobi
After breakfast, proceed for your final game drive. An early lunch will be taken then depart for Nairobi in the evening.
